Aging Outreach Services
Nonprofit Companion Care & Aging Support | Moore County, North Carolina
Aging Outreach Services creates meaningful jobs while supporting older adults across Moore County
For 25 years, Aging Outreach Services has played a dual role in Moore County: providing critical support to older adults and families while creating hundreds of meaningful job opportunities in the local care economy.
Founded in 1999 by gerontologist Amy Natt, Aging Outreach Services, known as AOS, was built on advocacy and action. What began as a small care management practice has grown into a locally owned organization that employs approximately 18 full time professionals and connects more than 300 private duty caregivers with clients throughout the region.
Those caregiver roles represent one of the largest and most consistent employment pipelines in the local aging services sector. Through AOS referrals, caregivers gain access to flexible work, steady demand and the opportunity to build long term relationships with clients. Office based roles in care coordination, scheduling, advocacy and recruiting further expand career options for those interested in healthcare, human services and nonprofit leadership.
Supporting older adults while creating meaningful, purpose-driven jobs in the community.
At the heart of the organization’s work is helping older adults age with dignity and choice. AOS provides geriatric care management, needs assessments, advocacy, resource coordination and private duty home care referrals. The goal is to help individuals remain safely at home whenever possible and to guide families through major decisions when care needs change.
One of the organization’s most relied upon offerings, AOS Cares, provides clients with 24/7 access to professional support. For adult children who live out of state or families facing sudden health crises, the service offers reassurance that local experts are available at any hour.
AOS has also demonstrated resilience and leadership during challenging times. During the COVID pandemic, the organization continued to provide one on one care while navigating nationwide caregiver shortages. Its recruiting and scheduling teams successfully rebuilt caregiver capacity, ensuring continuity of care for clients and sustained employment opportunities for workers.
Beyond direct services and jobs, Aging Outreach Services invests deeply in the community. Team members serve on local boards, lead support groups and offer educational programming through a speakers guild. The organization recently launched a YouTube podcast, All Things Aging, and publishes OutreachNC, a monthly educational resource that reaches families across the Sandhills.
In 2024, AOS marked its 25th anniversary with a proclamation from the Moore County
Chamber of Commerce, recognizing its long standing impact on both families and the
local workforce.
